ChinaAid Statement on World Vision Employee's Job Status

China Aid Association

(Midland, TX---July 4th, 2011) Following the initial reports on June 29 that a World Vision employee, Miss Xia Xiaoqiu, was facing pressure to quit her job because of her participation in her persecuted church’s outdoor worship services, China Aid Association and the leadership of World Vision have in recent days been in direct communication about the situation. World Vision’s leadership has reassured us that Miss Xia’s “job position is secure and that World Vision has not been under pressure by the government of China to change that in any way.” Furthermore, World Vision’s leadership team has informed ChinaAid that it is committed to investigating and reviewing fully what happened in the handling of Miss Xia’s case by the Beijing office and will issue a full report later.

ChinaAid applauds the swift and positive response of World Vision's leadership to ChinaAid's requests. We look forward to working with World Vision and other relevant Christian organizations to resolve this issue in a Christian manner to the glory of God. We will continue to pray for Miss Xia, her persecuted Shouwang Church, as well as our fellow Christian organization World Vision.
